50 days of cute friday...

TGIF! it is definitely one of those days. the kids were wild at work. i came home to a fridge that still isn't working like it should. apartment living is getting the best of me today. it was literally a sign from above when my friend sarah texted me to see if we wanted to hang out tonight. um...yes, please! i'm up to my eye balls in laundry (mostly clean. thank goodness!), but that can wait til tomorrow. i need a night with friends. i started to get some stuff together earlier that we really don't need or use or want. do you think you can have a yard sale when your yard is shared with 3 other apartment renters? has anyone ever heard of an apartment yard sale? anyway, here is today's outfit...

you'll have to excuse the slippers. :) i had been home for a while when my husband took the picture. i realized after the fact that i still had them on. oh well. they are from target and my sandals i wore earlier today are forever 21.

i was craving something sweet when i got home, so decided to make iced coffee. i poured the coffee into the blender and by the time i made it back from the freezer, the blender was empty and coffee was all over my counters and floor. i wanted to cry. it was a hot mess. i cleaned it up and realized that the seal wasn't in correctly. after that, i made this...

i was going to wait before i posted pictures of the bedroom redo because it still isn't completely finished, but my aunt caren wants to see them. :) anything for my favorite aunt! i really wish i would have taken before pictures. sorry guys! i was just so ready to get it finished! and brighten it up! drum roll please...

there are still some things that i want to change. like the brown lamp shade. it is much better than it was though!

yesterday my mom and i went to get pedicures. then we went to ross and target and she hooked me up. :) i'm excited to wear my new dress she bought me. happy wednesday friends!

oh, boy. i'm frustrated. is anybody with me? this is how i look at it: whether or not you agree with it or don't, this is the way it is. i don't want to be apathetic, but what good does it do if you get huffy and throw a fit? do you really think the president cares about your opinion? and i'm not saying that to slam obama. i'd say the same thing 4 years ago. anyway, thanks for letting me rant. hopefully this hasn't killed the vibe of my blog. :) be back soon with bedroom redo pictures. bye friends!

i feel dumb. every now and then, some of my favorite bloggers have fun giveaways. if its something super awesome (it usually is), i'll enter. well, it always seems like my computer poops out on me when i'm trying to enter and i always think that it doesn't post my comment. it happened again today. so, after entering my name twice, i decided to check and see. oh, it works. it just likes to make me think it doesn't. so there is no telling how many times i've entered one of these giveaways and left about 50 zillion comments. no wonder i never win. they probably think i'm the crazy gal who just has to win something so i post all these comments. ugh...death. i guess its kinda funny, though. i'm sure my husband will laugh anyway. :)

the plan for this morning was to go to some estate sales, but there really isn't any. i guess that's good because i don't need to spend anymore money. or bring more junk into our little home. i'll be back later with 50 days of cute friday. i'm still in my pjs. wouldn't you be too if you were off and didn't have anywhere you really needed to be? :)

one more thing. i'm trying to lighten up our bedroom without spending lots of money. i'd really like to be able to do this without spending any money at all, but that's unlikely. our walls are painted a lovely color called "coffee". i made the mistake of buying red sheers from World Market. they are really fun, but just made that room way too dark. i guess i should have realized that. anyway, i'm replacing them with white sheers. that's the only plan i have so far. it just needs to be brighter and more fun. any ideas?

shopping with my mother is always good...

yesterday morning i hopped in the car and drove to my parent's house to pick up my mom. we were off on a grand adventure to Monroe. our mission? vintage goodness and maybe something from forever 21. as big as Shreveport is, you would think we would have a forever21 by now. :( anyway, i ended up spending about $70 the entire day! my mom bought most of my things. she is very generous. :) here's my fun vintage goodness...

i was really excited about the owl trivet. i've been looking for the larger size for a while now. i've seen lots on etsy, but i wanted to find one in a shop, digging through piles of junk. and that's what i did. i guess it's the thrill of the hunt. the canisters made me giddy as well. they are in such good condition! i'm looking forward to adding those to my kitchen. so, remember my cupcake tier? i painted it. it didn't turn out exactly like i pictured, by it's still much better than the chrome.

my sister-in-law and her husband live in Colorado now and apparently the thrifting there is amazing. she was kind enough to buy me these...

yesterday i wore my liberty of london trench for the first time. i think it was the first time in a month i was glad it was chilly.

i love this coat. so glad i got to wear it. we ran into the Target in Monroe yesterday and i snagged a liberty picture frame and tray. good day...

feeling antsy...

do you ever have those days when you just want to rearrange or reorganize? i'm feeling that way right now. i'm ready to get in that yellow room and do something. our yellow room is our extra bedroom that has many purposes. it is a craft room, music room, office, and guest bedroom. there are lots of things piled in that room. some of it is organized and some of it is everywhere! as soon as it is in some sort of order, i will post a picture. that way, you can see how it all fits. right now my husband is at Shreveport Music hoping to make a trade. this makes me nervous. the guitar he wants is $700. if he can get an even trade, that's great. if not, i hope he makes a wise decision. we have lots of guitars in that yellow room. several of them costing 600+ dollars. i know my husband loves music. i know he loves to play all of those guitars. it can just start to cost a good deal of moolah. not that crafting can't get expensive, but i hope to make some money with my hobby. anyway, i've realized that i keep promising you eye candy and have yet to post any. the lamp shade is still not complete and neither is the yellow room (obviously), but here's a little something...

this is what my daddy found in someone's trash! it isn't this exact one, but i wanted to show you. i'm super excited! the one he found is a turquoise color. it still sits in my parents garage because i couldn't fit it in my car. hopefully i'll have it in the next few days! and here is my target treasure...

if money grew on trees...

i would buy out anthropologie in a heartbeat. have you checked out their site lately?! it really makes me swoon. i was going to make this a quick post, but the hubby is in the kitchen cleaning up all by himself, so i'll stay on a tad longer. :) i made chicken tonight that was quick and easy. and pretty yummy, too. last night a whipped up some cupcakes and a cake. i had to test out my new cupcake tier from target. its really cute, but will be getting a makeover like the lamp shade (which i still have not finished). it turns out to be a much more time consuming project than i thought. the cupcake tier just needs a bit of color. i can only handle so much chrome. i'm thinking it should be yellow or a fun blue. maybe robin's egg? yesterday my mother and i went out for a bit and made it by target. along with the cupcake tier, i also snagged a coat by liberty of london. it is beautiful! i'm really excited i got it because the liberty stuff has been flying off the shelves like hot cakes. i went online to see about purchasing some dishes and such and they are completely sold out! i guess that's a sign that i shouldn't spend the money. i promise, promise that i'll be back soon with the picture of the treasure my dad found. and i have some fun random pictures for you, too. i leave you with some of my favorites from anthropologie...

50 days of cute friday...

the weather the last few days has been lovely! it rains at night, but during the day the sun is shining and its warm. i love it! i celebrated today by wearing sandals and a skirt.

any fun weekend plans for you? the hubby and i are planning to run this evening and then its back home for an early bedtime. we have a wedding to go to out of town tomorrow. baton rouge here we come! sunday we're eating lunch with my folks and hopefully i will get the last bit of my junk. i was looking for a necklace earlier and remembered that it was at their house. :( my dad found an amazing treasure in someone's trash the other day so that will be coming home with me as well. i'll post a picture when i get it. sometimes it can be embarrassing to have a father who likes to dumpster dive, but then it also pays off. i guess i come by my love for old things and junk honestly. i'm working on a lamp shade redo for our bedroom lamp. i'll share that soon, too. today i leave you with this...

between work and cleaning and laundry and bills and trips to the grocery store and weekly commitments, why in the world did i think i would have time to do an online indie business class? i feel extremely behind. i just want to make the most out of this. have i totally lost it? i think so...

sick day...

i'm sick. sore throat, stuffy nose, fever. my head also feels like it weighs about a million pounds. i didn't come back on monday with a cute outfit. i did wear one, just no picture. i guess i got out of the routine. carl did too because usually he mentions taking a picture, but not this week. i guess there is still lots going on. carl took his ASVAB yesterday and was up at 5 this morning to go take his physical. i went back to bed and slept a good while. i thought i would feel a little better after sleeping, but not really. anyway, the reason i decided to blog in my current condition is because i've figured out a way to make this 50 days of cute thing work. i was on a roll for a while there, but throw in a few bad days and i was completely failing at my daily cute outfit. its really hard to feel cute everyday. and even harder to dress really cute everyday. so...i'm starting 50 days of cute as more of a feature than what the entire blog is about. 50 days of cute friday. i wish i would have figured this out before i started the blog, but i guess you live and learn. every friday, i will have a picture, and in the meantime, you will just get to hear little bits about my life. :)
