weighing in...

Yesterday was my second doctor's appointment. I really wasn't looking forward to it because I knew all it would be was a quick check up. My appointment was at 10:15, but I didn't get called back until almost 11! They should really know not to make pregnant women wait. I was getting hungry and slightly annoyed. As soon as I got to the room, the nurse checked my blood pressure and pulled out the Doppler to check the baby's heartbeat. She tried for almost 5 minutes and couldn't get it. I wasn't worried. I was excited. I knew this meant I got to have another ultrasound! My next ultrasound wasn't going to be until July, but they needed that heartbeat. It was amazing...better than the first time I think. The first ultrasound was great, but Baby Harris looked like a jelly bean. Now, Baby Harris looks much more like a baby!

The first ultrasound at 7 weeks.

The second ultrasound at 11 weeks.

Isn't it insane the amount of change and growth that happens in 4 weeks?! It went from a blob to a baby in no time! I really like this picture. That's his (or her) little hand coming up by the face. I like to think he's waving at me. :)

Well, the point of this post was to talk about my baby, but also to tell you the other exciting news I got yesterday. I haven't gained any weight! That might sound terrible, but you aren't supposed to gain any weight in your first trimester. I try not to pig out completely, but I don't really hold back either. I just knew I had gained and was going to get a talking to from my doctor. It will all probably catch up with me in the second trimester though. My pants already don't fit anymore. Is it worth gaining weight and feeling chubby for a while? Absolutely!

After my doctor's appointment, my mom and I went out for lunch and did a little shopping. I found some very fun vintage that I'll share later!

a little love letter...

Dear Baby Harris,

I'm ready for you to be here, but still have a long way to go. You make me very tired and chubby, but you are so worth it. The thought of being your mommy makes me giddy and I just can't wait to see your face! I'm pretty excited about you coming into this world and being my little buddy. I'm sure we will have our moments, but I know that we will be just fine. You are such a blessing and a joy, and I can't wait to meet you! I love you with every inch of my heart nugget!

Love,
Mommy

i did it...

Today I bought some maternity clothes. It is really early in the game to do so, but Target had these amazingly awesome maternity pants. I've been feeling really bloated and chubby today so the moment I saw them my stomach let out a big sigh of relief. Just looking at them made me more comfortable. They are nothing fancy. Just gray and casual. I grabbed those and then looked over to find long sleeve shirts on sale for $3. I bought a gray one and a black one. I figure that's a good price for maternity shirts. I don't want to have to spend a lot on clothes I won't wear much. I'm going to try to wear my regular clothes as long as I can. I'm 10 weeks today, but feel like I should be 20. I just feel so big. I'm sure most of it is in my head considering I've gained a pound, if that. Being pregnant makes you crazy. :) After the Target trip, I decided to find some cute maternity clothes. I looked online and found some super cute stuff...with super high price tags. One website had a very fun shirt, but it was $68. I don't even spend that much now on my clothes! Oh, the woes of a pregnant woman.

yesterday's treasures...

Yesterday Beth, Melissa, and I decided to hit up some estate sales. We only ended up going to one because of time issues, but that was the best one I've been to in a while. I went kinda crazy, but everything was half price, so you know...

I was really excited about the plant stand! Its in such good shape and my favorite color. I paid $5 for it. I think it was worth it. As you can see, I got lots of fun treasures. It was definitely worth the trip. The Van Gogh print (that I only paid $1 for!) is going to be framed and hung in Baby Harris's room. :)

Today is my husband's birthday. We've been celebrating all weekend and today we are going to the in-laws for some cake and ice cream. Happy Birthday Carl! I'm so glad you're my husband and I get to share another year with you! I love you!

the nursery...

I've been looking at Ohdeedoh and trying to get ideas for my little nugget's room. I've seen some extremely cute nurseries and fun ideas with cute color schemes. I like the idea of it being rather gender neutral. I'm not a big fan of pink, so if its a girl, there probably won't be a whole lot of that. Lately I've been loving yellow and teal. I think that will be cute for a guy or gal. And its a good thing I like yellow because that is the color of the room. We live in an apartment, but got to choose the colors of paint we wanted. Our extra bedroom is called "Scotch Yellow". It really is a lovely shade and I'm looking forward to it being a nursery. We have a changing table that is white, but I'm thinking of sanding it and painting it teal. I've also made the decision that I want a black crib. Any ideas for me? What are some fun places to look for baby bedding? I really need my readers to help me out with this one, so leave some comments please. :) Happy Friday!

i love you like a fat kid loves cake...

I love my husband. I'm sure you gathered that since we are married and I talk about him all the time. Maybe its because I'm pregnant and emotional, but lately I've been so appreciative of him and thankful he is here. Not that I wasn't before, but now those feelings have increased dramatically. I just can't get enough of my husband (and not in a dirty way. Geez...)! He is my best friend and constant companion. He makes me laugh all the time and treats me like a man of God should treat his wife. Of course, he is a man and I'm a woman, so we don't agree all the time. There are definitely days when he drives me insane, but I know I do the same to him. With marriage comes some disagreements and arguments, but I'm glad its him that I get to disagree with. He really is the greatest guy I know, but I'm not partial or anything. :)

Have a lovely Thursday friends!

early days...

I love the days I get off work at 1:15! It gives me so much time to get things done and just relax. My first stop was Carl's place of employment to bring him a Coke. I was really excited that I figured out what his text meant. I looked at my phone before I left work and read this...

Hey greatest wife ever! Would you be so great as to bring tour hubbub a come when you get off?

I could tell that he was typing it in a hurry. It took me a minute, but then realized he wanted a Coke. I'm good! Anyway, after that I headed to Target to get a few groceries and a wedding shower gift. I also picked up my husband's (or hubbub, as Carl likes to say) birthday present. His birthday is Sunday, but we are celebrating Friday with friends. This is a fantastic present I must say. It doesn't come close to his Christmas present last year, but its still awesome. I kinda wanted it, too...

I'm sure we are one of the last people on the planet to get one, but better late than never right?

Last night Carl and I watched a little film, or documentary I guess, called "Lord, Save Us from Your Followers". I think you should watch it to form your own opinion, but I definitely saw where this guy was coming from. Christians are to be like Christ, but sometimes we are just the opposite. Instead of love, we pass judgment. I could go on and on, but I'm not really sure how to express my thoughts on it right now. It definitely made me think. If you have the time, or an interest, watch it. :)
